Elevating West African Music: A Visionary in Marketing

Max Barrett is a dynamic and accomplished marketing and business development professional with over 20 years of experience in diverse industries. As the co-founder and VP of Marketing, Business Development, and Operations at Afrobeats Africa, Max is on a mission to elevate West African music onto the global stage. Through his innovative marketing strategies and creative thinking, he has made a significant impact in the music industry.

From a young age, Max exhibited a love for learning and the arts. Attending Bullard Talent, a performing arts elementary school, he excelled in choir, and under his leadership, the choir won awards as the best in California for two consecutive years. In high school, Max's poetic talent was recognized with an honorable mention in a prestigious poetry contest covering the Western United States.

As an entrepreneur, Max's artistic and business acumen gained recognition when ABC Channel 7 Fresno featured him for his dealing of Amazonian Indian Art, a business he began at age 13. He successfully sold feather headresses and ceremonial objects of Brazilian Indian tribes such as the Xingu and Kayapo, including pieces to Adam Mekler, an LA art dealer with the largest collection of Amazon Indian art in the United States.

During his tenure at Z57, Max spearheaded the launch of several groundbreaking products, revolutionizing the industry. His contributions included Luna CN, Luna SCX, Synergi HPLC columns (Synergi Max-RP, Polar-RP, Hydro-RP), EZ:fast, a 15-minute amino acid testing kit, and Jupiter Proteo, an HPLC column for proteomics and tryptic digests. Notably, Jupiter Proteo achieved remarkable success, generating $1 million in the US alone within the first month of its launch.

Max's visionary approach also extended to his role as Vice President of Marketing at Z57, where he played a pivotal role in elevating the company's Better Business Bureau (BBB), which oversees consumer reports of businesses in the US, rating from F- to A+. Through the establishment of the Academy, one-on-one client coaching, internal training, and the creation of user guides and a product support website, Max led transformative efforts that improved marketing knowledge, polished phone skills, and enhanced customer service.

Beyond the corporate realm, Max is an accomplished film editor and art director, infusing his vision into each visual creation. His work on the film "Attitude" earned recognition as a quarter finalist at the SWIFF film festival.

Max's philanthropic spirit shines through his involvement with various charitable organizations. He volunteered at the Los Angeles Free Clinic, providing vital support to youth, particularly those who were homeless. As a mentor at Urban Street Angels, he helped homeless youth reenter school and regain stability. Additionally, Max actively supports Border Angels, a non-profit organization that places water bottles in the deserts of Southern California to prevent dehydration and heat stroke among migrants crossing the border.

With a passion for music, a profound appreciation for culture, and an unwavering commitment to philanthropy, Max Barrett continues to make an indelible impact on the music industry and the lives of those he touches. As Vice President of Marketing, Business Development, and Operations at Afrobeats Africa, Max is dedicated to propelling West African music to new heights, celebrating its rich tapestry, and uniting people worldwide through the universal language of music.
